Enhancing Grid Operations through Innovative Modeling, Simulation and Analysis
With over 25 years of experience, Grid Integrity Solutions provides innovative and unparalleled service offerings to help power grids operate safely and reliably.
Our Offerings
Consulting Services
The electric grid is undergoing generational transformation. As inverter-based resources reshape grid behavior, utilities must re-evaluate how they model, study, protect and operate their systems to ensure safety and reliability. Our consulting services help you meet these challenges head on. We work with you to formulate a future-ready strategy for power system modeling, provide guidance on maintaining accurate and up to date models of your systems, develop a protection settings philosophy for this new operating paradigm, and support you in selecting the most effective software tools available in the industry today to execute your vision. We also ensure that your approach aligns with evolving regulatory requirements.
Comprehensive Protection Studies
We deliver detailed, end to end assessments of your transmission and distribution protection systems to ensure short circuit faults are cleared quickly and selectively, without disrupting unaffected parts of the grid. These protection coordination and verification studies are now a core component of the regulatory landscape, with standards such as NERC PRC 027 requiring utilities to perform them on a defined, recurring basis. Our team helps you build a clear, sustainable strategy for meeting these requirements. We work with you to design study methodologies, assessment workflows, and documentation practices that can be integrated directly into your company’s operating procedures. With the right processes in place, your organization can maintain compliance, improve system reliability, and execute protection studies with confidence and consistency.
Power Systems Modeling
The accuracy of your operational, protection, and planning studies and the decisions that follow depend entirely on the quality of your power system model. An incomplete, inconsistent, or outdated model can lead to incorrect study results, compliance risk, and costly operational outcomes. We help you build a robust, reliable model of both the primary network and the secondary protection systems using a structured, quality driven approach. Our methodology incorporates defined quality gates and rigorous validation steps, enabling you to fully leverage the sophisticated modeling and analysis tools available today. We also work with you to develop an efficient, sustainable model maintenance strategy. We help embed model updates and study processes into your routine operating procedures, ensuring your model stays accurate, current, and ready to support critical planning and operational decisions.
Digitalization and Automation
How confident are you in the accuracy and completeness of your electric grid data? Many utilities rely on multiple data sources, often developed over decades, that may contain gaps, inconsistencies, or conflicting information. These challenges can adversely impact system modeling, power flow and short circuit studies, planning analyses, and day to day operational decisions. Consolidating all of your critical grid data into a single, authoritative repository (single source of truth) that every downstream application can trust improves data integrity, streamline your workflows and enhances the quality and reliability of operational and planning decisions. Our digitalization and automation services help you get there. We work with your team to rationalize existing data sources, design unified data architectures, and implement automated processes that keep your information accurate and up to date. With a stronger data foundation, your organization can operate more efficiently and stay resilient amid the increasing complexity of the energy transition.
NERC PRC Compliance
Navigating the NERC PRC regulatory landscape across the United States and Canada can be complex and demanding. Utilities must comply with numerous protection related reliability standards, each carrying its own compliance cycles, documentation requirements, and reporting obligations. Organizations often face a critical decision: should they develop internal tools to demonstrate compliance, or invest in advanced commercial software solutions? And what level of upfront and ongoing investment is required to implement these tools effectively? We can guide you through these considerations, help you evaluate options, establish efficient compliance processes, and even perform the required studies on your behalf. Our expertise ensures you adopt the right strategy while minimizing both risk and operational burden.
Data Center Studies
Data centers have very quickly become major grid-connected load centers that utilities must plan for, integrate and reliably operate. Our data center-specific services help you (a) develop a short-circuit model of the data center and its electrical equipment such as transformers, busbars, feeders, co-generation, (b) build a protection model comprising relays, fuses, LVCBs, and communication logic, and (c) perform arc flash and protection sensitivity and selectivity studies under different operating scenarios. These services ensure that the data center operates safely and reliably, while being continuously available to support the data storage, cloud computing or AI functions for which it was put into service.
Staff Extension Services
Enhance your team’s capabilities by leveraging our deep expertise in power system modeling, short circuit and protection studies, comprehensive protection assessments, data management, and system protection. Through a flexible retainer model, we serve as an extension of your staff, providing on demand technical guidance, practical support, troubleshooting insights, and upskilling opportunities. Use our knowledge as much or as little as you need. This allows you to augment your team with specialized skills without the overhead of additional full-time hires.
Education and Training
We offer specialized training programs designed to strengthen the technical capabilities of utility professionals. Our courses cover: (a) power system modeling for short circuit and protection studies, (b) foundational and advanced principles of system protection, and (c) integrated protection and planning studies. These programs equip protection engineers with the essential knowledge and practical skills needed to support the reliable and secure operation of the electric grid.
